[134] Told you summer would be boring…

July 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hello all! It has been a very long time since I last updated. I guess it’s just because summer has been extremely boring thus far. As I said, summer band is non-existent this summer, and I cannot get a job. But I have found some things to do. I go to the library a lot. And on Thursdays I volunteer for the concession stand at outdoor Municiple Band concerts. Municiple Band is pretty much an orchestra made up of mostly older people, but there’s a couple of college kids in it. It’s a pretty cool program, and tons of people go to watch them. All of the profit from the concession stand goes to the KW band, which is really great, because we could always use more budget money. But all the old ladies that run the concession stand with me are the kind of women that know everyone in the city, and gossip about everyone all the time. So while I am scooping popcorn into bags, they are discussing why Sheryl divorced Joe. It’s very exciting. So other than that, I have nothing to do.

Which is why this post will be very, very short. :D

Thanks for reading!

[133] So… How ’bout that summer…

June 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hola reader(s)! Summer 2009 officially started yesterday for us Casper kids. I have absolutely NO plans so far for the ENTIRE summer. Some of you may remember that last summer I wrote a lot about Summer Marching Band, but they decided to cut the budget for Summer Band, so I have nothing at all yet this summer. I suppose I will just be reading/writing/practicing trumpet/Facebooking/learning to cook for the next 3 months or so. Unless I happen to find a job which, ehem, won’t happen. No one likes to hire kids my age. Maybe I’ll even practice driving? But I can’t actually get my permit until August.

Anyway, so not excited for summer. And 3 months from now I will be in high school. Well, a real high school. I’m not sure if I’m excited for that or not. Should I be? I guess it depends on who you ask, eh? Maybe high school will be super cool, or maybe I’ll just be bored and lonely. The good news is, I’m away from CCA. Wow. Feels good.

So I guess that’s all I really have to say.

Thanks for reading! :)

[132?] What to do, what to do.

May 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hello, everyone. My ninth grade graduation thing is tonight, and I’m not excited. It’ll be soo boring, I know it. But that’s not what I’m talking about today. I have a topic that has come up numerous times the last few weeks.

At my school (well, my school for only three more days), everyone is pretty sure about their future. They’ll go to college in some super gorgeous state at some amazing school, become a doctor or a photographer or a teacher or a veternarian, et cetera. I know that if you’re in high school, you’ve probably heard this a lot. But honest to God, I do not know what to do with my life. It’s not that there’s too much to choose from–it’s that theres nothing to choose from. What am I good at? That makes me sound like I have about an ounce of self-esteem, but really… What can I do for the rest of my life? Am I just gonna be one of those people that does everything, but can’t hold a job for more than a few months? Not that that’d be bad, I’m just saying that I need to find something I enjoy–and I need to find it fast.

The reason I have brought this up today is: 1. Well, graduation is today, and that just makes me think about my future, and 2. I’ve recently started reading this blog written by this guy who seems to have the same problem (except that I have a lot more time to decide than him). He wants to be a teacher, he wants to be a lawyer, but he’s also an amazing actor. His situation is similar, but I guess I do have a ton of time to figure this sort of thing out. But what if I never figure it out? Am I doomed to a life with no career? Call me over-dramatic, but I really do want to find something that I’ll love doing the rest of my life. there’s music, but I know that I’ll never be good enough to make it big.

Dang, I gotta go, like, now. This is a rushed entry, but who cares?

Really, really quickly…

First of all, sorry it’s been FOREVER. I haven’t even been busy except my Salt Lake City trip last week, I just forgot to post and stuff. This is gonna be a really short update just because I feel bad about not writing in so long.

So, I don’t know if I wrote about my final band concert. Well, it rocked. Just so you know. I got the Leadership award, which was awesome. Then there was the Salt Lake trip. It was really cool: the hotel we stayed in was nice, the shuttle trains were so much fun, the mall was GORGEOUS (and I got free chocolate :]), and most of all The Lagoon (an amusement park) was AWESOME. I went on Wicked which looks like this: WickedWickedTower

Yeah, I went straight up, and then straight down. It was pretty fun, but after the huge drop it isn’t too exciting. But it was SOOO fun.

Anyway, I don’t really have much else to say. There are 4 and a half days left of school, which ROCKS. Except so far this summer I have Troopers week… And that’s it. No job (yet), and I can’t drive yet either. But I am going to see if maybe I can volunteer for Trooper’s week. For those of you that don’t know, Trooper’s is Wyoming’s drum and bugle corps. I marched Trooper Cadets like four years ago, and my band teacher has some pretty great connections with them. I kind of plan to march with them one day, if only I were good enough.

But anyway, middle school is almost over for me, and I’m EXCITED. Except for band, I really don’t care for CCA much. But who does? :P

[130] I went UPSIDE DOWN.

May 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Helllooooo people of Earth! I’m soo incredibly happy about how my band trip to Elitch Gardens in Denver went. First of all, we got a GOLD MEDAL, which isthe closest we can get to AWESOME. The judges really surprised me. They weren’t rude, they just fed us the facts. But they had several comments about my playing. They said I had great tone and TONS of potential (!). The playing portion of the trip was over-all great. CCA’s choir and show choir both got 1st place in their categories, which rocks.

But really, the trip was not what I expected. I was expecting to just walk around all day with Alissa and a couple of our friends, but that’s not really what I did. I actually went on some roller coasters. I know, it’s shocking. First I went on one where you had to walk up 12 flights of stairs before getting to the actual line. It went over 100 mph, and there was only one loop, but you went forwards on the loop and then backwards. It was really cool going backwards because you could see all the people in the front of the ride. Anyway, I pretty much screamed bloody murder on that one. Then I went on some kiddy rides, then I went on the REAL roller coaster. It’s one of the busiest ones in the park because it is one of the FUNNEST. It’s called the Boomerang (just in case any of you ever go to Elitch’s). It goes around three loops, then goes backwards. The first time I rode it I freaked out… I was shaking when I got off. Then I rode it three more times after that just for the fun of it. It was especially awesome because it was raining while we were there.

Anyway, the trip was loads of fun. It was pretty much the highlight of my year so far. It got me totally revved up for Salt Lake City, because the amusement park we’re going to there has some pretty kick-butt rollercoasters, I heard.

There’s not much else to say other than I lost my voice from screaming so loud and my feet hurt like none other.

So thanks for reading!!
